Johannesburg; The call for his resignation comes after a day he made a shocking revelation at Winnie Madikizela Mandela memorial service held in Potchefstroom in the North West Province on Tuesday.
ANC Youth League President Collen Maine must resign with immediate effect, says the league’s deputy secretary, Thandi Moraka who accused her leader of being a “sell out”.
Moraka went on to say that Collen Maine went to Cyril Ramaphosa to apologies after the elective conference of the ANC that took place in Nasrec 2017. “we want to apologies for having supported comrade Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma” said Moraka while addressing mourners at Soweto during Winnie Madikizela Mandela memorial service.
She accused Maine of apologizing to Ramaphosa to serve his own interest and not representing the league’s stance on the ANC presidency.
In June last year, the ANCYL became a third structure after the ANCWL and the uMkhonto We Sizwe Military Veterans League to endorse Dlamini-Zuma.
Moraka went on accusing Maine of signing his supper and bringing shame to the Youth League, all in the name of hoping to be elected at Ramaphosa’s administration.
She said “you must therefore resign as a matter of urgency so that we can help our young people who will be militant so that they continue to stage war of social challenges we are facing, she added.
It remains unclear whether the league will institute disciplinary measures against its president for bringing it to disrepute as claimed by Moraka, as some argue that he is over aged to be the leader of the youth.
